About Me

Hello, I'm Ben Tjapkes:
I decided to make this website largely on a whim, and am struggling through self-teaching HTML and using my limited css knowledge to create. Despite most of my interests depending on, or being depended on by the internet, the world wide web never ceases to terrify me. Photonics and optical fibers to deliver the signal carrying light of the internet I can understand. I aspire to learn and create quantum and photonic computers, quantum physics scares me less than ordering at a drive through. However the protocols and standards surrounding our wonderful cloud fill me with fear. When creating my personal server, I am able to build the computer easy, install Debian Linux easy, install, configure, and run Pihole, Jellyfin, and tailscale in docker containers? Easy. Yet I have delayed creating a website due to my fear of maintaing something so entrenched in the internet as a website. In theory it should be right up my alley, I am familiar with configuration and coding through my familiarity through Java, Python, Cpp, Matlab, and my raging Linux addiction to configuring my installations 'just right' in the impossible goldilocks zone of .css, .conf, and .ini files. Finally, on a whim it's here, we'll see what all I properly do with it, but I have succesfully once more thwarted the internet in my crusade for becoming too invested in my hobbies.
